Should Universal Health care be passed?

Should Universal Health care be passed?
Now I know I am going to get the better of both sides on this issue, but before you answer think of this. Universal health care of "Free" as it is put actually cost us more in taxes. That means more out of your paychecks to fuel this. Now if doctors have to decide whether to work for the government making little money with lots of patients or opening private practice to make more money with less patients which will they choose? Grant it there will be those that will try and stick it out for as long as they can until they burn out. Then comes shortage of doctors for the public sector. Now Obama says that private practice will still be around , but for how long when doctors get fed up with the system? Will private practice be illegal too like in Canada? Now I understand everyone's argument that a lot of people don't have health care now , but isn't that their own fault since we have Medicare and Medicaid to help them which is free now? I actually had a few people that didn't know this. Also they say Medicaid is running out of money since the government didn't think people would live so long as they expected for people to die off much sooner. Do we really want government to watch over our health then? Not only do they have Universal health care in Canada and France but also in countries like Brazil which Brazilians will tell you that they prefer to pay for it since they will get the care that much sooner. Now who does Universal health care hurt the most in the end? The poor and average , funny how its the same people we are trying to help. Long waiting lines and private practice supply and demand go up since people need to get seen they go there instead and prices for private practice go up so only the rich get seen. Lastly tax more for the rich that make more then $250,000? For what? More Unemployment? It is the rich that have the jobs for us down here right? More cuts? More bailouts? So now that you read what do you think.. Let me know. Thanks in advance.

In the US? Absolutely. After all, we are the only "advanced" nation left on this rock who does not provide it... ...maybe it's finally time we actually got a clue. Btw, please keep your economic conjecture to yourself until you know the reality of what will/would happen, please.

Why not, bring on hyperinflation. I got my gold and i am ready to buy up my neighborhood. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

You wrote too much to respond to it all. But universal health care costs less money in the long run. My tax increase would be much less than what I currently pay in premiums and deductible. Doctors are fed up with insurance companies dictating how they practice, and we already are in a doctor shortage. Many have left the field. Currently the US Gov pays over 50% of all medical costs, period. And Medicare and Medicaid are not free to anyone. You have to either make less than 11,000 a year to qualify for Medicaid (which is way under poverty wages) or be 62 years or old to get Medicare. Most of the uninsured are the working poor, that barely make enough to pay rent and eat, with nothing left over for medical bills. Example: Walmart workers, they make enough to survive but not pay for health insurance. They either qualify for Medicaid or just don't pay their health care costs. Either way the US taxpayer picks up the bill. To Trinity: wait times are actually longer in the US than in Canada: http://www.ryananddebi.com/2008/12/19/healthcare-wait-times-us-vs-canada/ If you click the links attached, very well researched studies are available.

Don't forget that if said bill is passed then that means longer waits. Besides the government can't even run something as simple as the DMV and we all know this regardless of your party... so with that being said what makes everyone think the government can run health care? Also to even if private practive will be allowed it will eventually go away because with this "cheaper" government health care the rest of the doctors will lose too much money. And besides my taxes are high enough already without taking on all of America's health bills on top of that... Obama can kiss my @ss if he thinks that I will stand for it. Yea I said it, and if you have a problem with it well you can kiss my @ss too.
