travel visa to brazil?
i have applied for a travel visa on this site https://scedv.serpro.gov.br/frscedv/index.jsp on the 10th of febuary, and my application process still hasnt changed from received. im starting to wonder if i did something wrong. i filled out the application as detailed as possible. there is one step in the step list that makes me wonder if i did do something wrong...but if i did i dont know how to fix it. the step is #6 Pay the fee. am i supposed to send a money order to the consulate before i go see them in person? i thought i had to get the money order and give it to them in person. if i do have to send it to them, where would i send it? im supposed to leave for brazil on march 19th, so i still have some time to get my visa, which is all i have left to get for my trip. if anyone can give me some detailed instructions on what to do, i would appreciate it very much!

You cannot apply for a travel visa online, it still needs to be done at the Embassy. The Brazilian Embassy only wants you to fill the application online and send it to the embassy electronically so they have your details on their system and do not need to input your details manually. After you have pushed the "sent" button you should have received a visa-form onscreen and a processing number. You need to print that out and present it together with your documents at the Embassy in person or mail it to them. See further details on the website of the Brazilian Embassy. http://www.brasilemb.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=42&Itemid=155 .. Concerning the fee: you need a U.S. postal money order either attached to the mailed application or presented to the Embassy in person at your date of application.

Why are all the powerhouses in football doing so terribly?
Why are all the powerhouses in football doing so terribly?
Italy, England, Portugal, Brazil, now Spain...at least in Brazil's case, they won, but the other teams are doing badly...why is this? what happened to all the predictions of Spain making it to the end, if they couldn't even win against the Swiss (of which I just won alot of money on)?

Soccer is an unpredictable sport. More and more nations are embracing soccer culture (USA, African Nations, Far East) and each world cup they come back with stronger and stronger teams. It's anybodys game now really and it makes this tournament 100x more fun to watch.

It's amazing me how so many teams are being way outplayed by the other, like Switzerland was by Spain, yet come away with points. This World Cup is too unpredictable
5 :
Portugal drew against a counter attacking Ivory Coast on home soil, that's not terrible... especially when we were very disorganized and were sloppy. Brazil won 2-1 against a STRONG North Korea side. That's not terrible. A win is a win, doesn't matter how you win.

There are several factors I think: New environment in Africa, the ball, the strange horn sounds. I think this is kind of like football's version of the clay court. But hey im not complaining, this is turning out to be very interesting.
9 :
I don't think they have come to the realization that the rest of the world is catching up and even the rest of Europe that they ignored and brushed off for years. Things change, however mentality usually doesn't.
10 :
Wow, I guess it is possible for any team to beat or tie with the best.

because of overconfidence.and favorites image? i think even north Korean and south Africa playing with vengeance and superior quality. i think Argentina or Brazil will this world cup.

How is the society in Brazil?
How is the society in Brazil?
I need to do research about Brazil. Does anyone live in Brazil or have some experiences about the country? Could you help me answer the following questions, please? In school - Are students allowed to speak up in class and correct the teacher when he or she makes mistakes? -Is aggression by students accepted? -Excellent students are praised? -Is failing in school a minor or major incident? Workplace -What does the majority prefer, free time over more money or more money over free time? -Are careers optional for both genders? Politics and state -Does the government aid for poor countries? -Are many women elected in political positions? I will be really appreciated if you could help me. Thank you in advance!

Manaus Brazil and Brazil in General For English Speakers Immigrating?
Manaus Brazil and Brazil in General For English Speakers Immigrating?
Thinking about moving there for about 1 year or possibly more depending how it goes as a skilled worker. The offer is standing and I am interested but hesitant. Me: -White -Male -Mid 20's -No family or significant other -English, no Portuguese yet. -Haven't been out of North America before. -Accustomed to Cold weather. What I know: Brazil is hot as hell. Alot bigger than most people think. Very diverse and populated. They speak Portuguese and alot of the citizens in school will learn Spanish and English but that necessarily means everyone can speak it. I learned French in school and it can barely get me by in a French country. It has its fair share of crime.. Infact a Favela makes Detroit look like Disney Land. So avoid the streets in rough areas at night, try not to stand out so much as a tourist, and definitely dont go in a favela or even near one. Scenario: Opportunity to live and work in Manaus which is a large city. About the same size as Toronto Canada. It is in the Amazonas region and is on the mouth of the amazon river. What are some things I should really look into to save my a$$ in sticky situations. I have thought of 1) Losing passport 2) Losing Visa, cash 3) Losing entire wallet 4) Being robbed of those things 5) Sickness.. I hear you can get diarreah there easily due to climate and water quality. 6) What to wear to seem less of a tourist. I am fairly tanned, I am sure I could fit in as a 'white' Brazilian before they talk to me, so long as I dress like one. 7) How much is like..say 5 bucks Canadian in Brazilian Currency? 8) If I live a very modest lifestyle, how much Canadian money could get me by every month. Id be alone, i dont want to starve, but I dont have to live high off the hog either. Dont need an amazing apartment.. but I dont want to be in the ghetto obviously. I am a white tourist that sont speak portuguese.. Id die lol.. IF anyone can help me that be greatl If anybody knows Manaus.. What is the nightlife like? What are the girls like? Is it like typical north american girls? Either a pub or a club. Is dancing very big? Rock music? Metal? Hip Hop.. or is it diverse just like here? How are the clubs there? Same dancing style as north america? Alot of bumping and grinding? Or is it like..that latin booty hip shake type thing going on lol.. Are most bars sausage fests? What type of bars would you recommend for a young guy like me that be living fairly poor there lol.

Why do we make September 11th a sacred holiday???
Why do we make September 11th a sacred holiday???
People, or atleast those who think Americans are by default better than anyone else in the world, seem to have made 9/11 as important to their nationalist views as Christmas is to Christians. It is the day we Americans are told that freedom and peace come at a price. As this is said, our freedoms are withering away, and peace is promised at the beginning of each war, only to cause more wars and hence, no peace. September 11th was not an attack on our supposedly great way of life, other nations lead more or less the same lives but without attack from terrorists. People from Sweden, Brazil and South Korea lead the same lifestyles as Americans but they were not attacked by terrorists. Why? Perhaps because they don't attack other nations when it seems convenient? Nor do they strive to do so. The USA, on the other hand, spends more money on weapons of war than all other nations combined and at the same time does the most to interfere with the affairs of others. September 11 was the result. wildraft: the question is in the title No I do not apologize to or for the terrorists. I don't defend killers, regardless of what uniform they wear, what flag they serve, or whether they use car bombs or cruise missiles. KJB, who is standing up for the oppressed innocent people of Tibet, Belarus or North Korea? No one, they have nothing to offer the American elite.

Yeah they did such a good job with Memorial Day, the day to honor our fallen service people.
4 :
Are you apologizing to the terrorists for killing us? The terrorists are the victims of 9/11? You sound like a liberal.
5 :
I agree with you. This holiday was made to maintain the fear in the hearts and minds of the American people to get their support in the war against the so called terrorism. And so the owners of weapon and oil industry make their wealth bigger and bigger.
6 :
We remember September 11th because it was one of the most important moments in American history. We remember it because 3,000 INNOCENT people died. Whatever your loony political views, you should at least be able to recognize that! As far the US's wars......maybe you consider standing up for oppressed people and freedom to be "attacking other nations when it seems convienient" but to me it is doing what is right. Just look at who you are taking sides with.....people who want to kill you. Wake up doode. By the way, it is "ask a question", not "make a crackpot political statement". Because we can't help ALL then we are EVIL for helping some? Maybe we should help nobody?? You people are so cycnical....you question the motivation of all Republicans. You can't believe that we actually believe we are doing what is right? It seems to me that the vast majority of soldiers believe in what we are doing. They believe in it enough to volunteer....to put their life on the line for it. If you believe it is so wrong maybe you guys should start winning some elections and show us the correct way to do things.

Why do we spend so much on weapons and war? Why do other nations call out to us when they are getting their butts handed to them by some natural disaster or terrorist cell? Why do we get belittled when we don't respond as fast as the world says we should to these problems? Why don't we sit idly by and watch the world go to crap? Because the world sees us and expects us to be there and we know what the right thing to do is. Be it a natural disaster or some terror wielding insurgency...we are the ones that are asked to lend a hand. Let these other countries live in their idyllic utopias. We can't, we are too big, too powerful, and much too responsible to sit on our haunches and watch. As for making 9-11 a national holiday...are we to allow such a horrific event to disappear into the fog of history as a footnote? I don't think that would be such a great idea at all. It should be recognized as a national tragedy that need not be repeated. All Americans should be vigilant in this and remember that there are those out there that would rather take your life from you as look at you. Let's not allow complacency to creep in and allow another 9-11 to happen. Keep the awareness high. Remind people of the danger. And be proud of your nation and the attempts made to make the world a better place. There is a reason that other countries look to America for help. Our compassion and strength are just a few of them.

Do you consider The Simpson's as a very wealthy family? Why or why not?
When I watch the television show The Simpson's, I cannot tell if The Simpson's are wealthy or not, and yet they drive two different cars, live in good neighborhood, and they have in a good community, and yet, about their finances. They have traveled all over the world to London, Tokyo, New York City, and Brazil which cost money just to travel. I am not quite sure if they have money saved for Bart and Lisa to go to college and how much money Homer makes, but when I watch the show, I cannot tell if they are a family that is wealthy or not? Would you consider The Simpson's as being a very wealthy family? Why or why not?

No, they're not wealthy. They're supposed to be middle class. As far as all the travel, it is a fictional show, right? Same thing happens on Family Guy.
2 :
Personally, I wouldn't consider that the simpsons is a wealthy family. I agree with you that it could seem that way, but personally, I think its just Lisa who lets them travel mostly since she is so smart. But not sure exactly. Its a very good question. -Sadye (age 15)

If you compare there lifestyle, with that of people in inner city neighborhoods. Then they're millionaires.
4 :
Well, Homer works at a nuclear plant. Come on, he must make what $65 an hour?/more? But he drinks cheap DUFF beer, and eats bad food... so you know where all the money is going, what ever Marge isn't saving for a rainy day, Bart's bail, and Lisa's college. (HAHA)
5 :
No, not wealthy! Homer works in a factory-- a blue collar job. They usually work long hours and it is a position which usually does not require any advanced education (college). I think that they are portraying middle class... Mr. Burns is wealthy/rich. Look at Homer's friends, Do they seem wealthy? Anyways it a cartoon. of course they are traveling the world...They never seem to get any older either huh??
