| Who can review and critique my college essay for UCF!?!?!? PLEASE HELP!?!?!? 3. Why did you choose to apply to UCF? 4. What qualities or unique characteristics do you possess that would allow you to contribute to the UCF community? 3) I have known that i want to attend UCF for years. When i was younger my father took my brothers and I around Florida looking at Universities for my brother to attend. Many of the colleges we looked at are now nothing but a blur deep in the depths of my memory bank, but the one institution that has left a permanent foot print in my memory is UCF. With my lifestyle, i like to constantly be active, UCF and Orlando offer many Activities and Organizations to keep me busy. My oldest brother is a UCF graduate, and while he was attending your school, the best weekends were the ones where i got to come stay with him. From always visiting i fell in love with the UCF student lifestyle. My fathers job which allows him to travel all over the world has allowed me to travel with him. Traveling to Europe, Japan, and Brazil all by age 16 has expanded my mind . My travels have opened my mind and i’m all for trying new things. One thing that greatly makes the location of my university important is the skateboard scene. Skateboarding is my passion and through growing as talented as i have become at skateboarding it has allowed me to learn many things and travel many places. Often me and some other skater friends take trips to Orlando, and the skate scene is more vibrant than ever right now in Orlando with the opening of several new skate parks and skate shops in the area. Also Orlando being a major city makes it bountiful with great places to cruise around in the city. Tampa is a hot spot for skateboarding competitions that i compete in and Orlando is just a hop and a skip away from Tampa which make’s competing much more convenient for me. My brother that graduated from UCF has gone on to live an exciting life, and he couldn't have made it to where he is with out the wisdom and knowledge he obtained at your prestigious university. I have seen what a great role model UCF has shaped my oldest brother into, but i have also witnessed first hand what kind of struggles not going to a university can create. My brother that did not attend a University is now still asking my father for money ,is barely making it by ,and regretting not attending a university. My UCF graduate brother just graduated from Columbia University Film School in New York, and is currently in India with his girlfriend. Attending UCF is something that i feel obliged to do so i can further expand my mind and be prepared to make a difference in the world that lies before me. throughout the thousands of universities in the world, UCF’s lifestyle, location, and prestigious academics satisfy my needs as an eager student ready to explore a new world. 4) I plan on really making an impact on the UCF community upon my four years spent attending the institution. I’ve been described as up beat, i’m always the one who’s putting everybody else in a good mood, i look for that one person who isn't having a good time, and i give them a good time. Since i am so up beat, i intend on keeping the UCF community up beat. I am also very active. Every day when i wake up, my goal is to see how many different activities i can achieve in that day. I always like participating and helping out, my nick name at the Goat Ramp warehouse is “eager beaver†because i am always helping out with the skateboard demonstrations just for fun and never ask for anything in return. I am going to be very active in the UCF community and get my hands on as many activities and experiences as i can. I’m Imaginative, ideas flow through my mind like a river. I have always left classmates in awe by how imaginative my mind is. I plan on using my superior imagination towards starting new clubs and organizations, coming up with creative ideas and events to hold, a great imagination is helpful in all situations. Any project that i get my hand’s on, i perfect to the fullest, and i plan on using my tedious habit of always doing things as best as they can possibly be done towards my academics as well as my student community waiting for me in Orlando. I find myself always asking, “how?â€. I always want to know how things work down to the final detail, i leave no mental stone unturned when my curiosity wants to better understand something. With no curiosity, many of the inventions and discoveries we have today would not be here, which is why i curiosity plays a vital role in my pursuit of knowledge and experience. I intend on making the University of Central Florida proud to have a student like me who is confident that he will make a positive impact on not just the UCF community but one day the world. -Thank You!! send this around! I have a question about tax Havens?
| I have a question about tax Havens? I currently live in the Boston area. I have a corporation in the State of MASS, USA. My corporation makes USD150,000 a month. It is an importing and exporting business so there is no physical installations or nothing that makes me stay in the US. I trade goods between Spain and Brazil. Given that USD150.000 is my corporation's margin I can only have a salary of USD100.000 to USD125,000 so the government sees that the corporation is actually making some money. Right now I'm paying 29% as an individual and another 30% as a corporation. What would you suggest me to do in this particular case ? I want to SAVE, Please help. I am a long term resident alien United States - 2 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : Are you a US citizen or long term resident alien? In which case, you can't escape the taxes. 2 : Your level of income is too low for a tax haven corp to make sense. I am not up to date with foreign operations planning techniques but I remember there are some tax savings in setting up a Foreign Income Sales Corp. (FISC) I suggest you talk to a tax adviser that specializes in foreign operations but for now, I don't think you are at the level where a tax haven corp makes sense. |

How expensive is it to travel the world?
| How expensive is it to travel the world? At the moment, I'm only 15, but I'd really love to travel the world. I'm not planning to go until after I've been to uni so it is a long way off. My dad used to work on a luxury cruise ship for 5 years so he travelled the world a number of times. I would love to travel to areas of the world that I've never been to, but the cost seems too high. I want to go to: China Japan Singapore Malaysia Australia New Zealand Brazil Mexico USA Canada I would plan on staying in each country for about 1 week and would like to plan my trip within events eg Chinese New Year, Christmas in Canada etc. I will go with about 4 other people but only be paying for myself. Obviously, I realise that this would be very expensive, so I don't have to go to every country all in one trip. I could do the Asia, North+South America and Oceania trips in 3 separate holidays. Questions: So, going by today's economy, how much do you think it would cost? I plan to create iPhone apps in my own time as I've already had success and make a fair bit of money. If I make £25,000 per year for 3 years at uni and save what I don't spend on rent, electric, gas etc would I have enough money? Do you have any tips? What sort of insurance would I need? Basically, anything you know about travelling the world. If you have any useful links, that'll help too. Thanks! Other - Destinations - 1 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : Basically, the easiest way to travel the world is to have a job that lets you travel, like the way your dad went. With a job then, you would have health coverage, travel paid, and get a salary. Usually you would need to become a specialist in your field, so that you are hired as a problem solver in your field. Or you could go the education route, Or you could get into embassy work. Best to learn a second language and study geography and history, so you have some clue about what is going on, and where things are, lol |

speech help!!!!!pele?
speech help!!!!!pele?
i have to do a speech on pele so here it is Pele was a very famous football/soccer player who was born on the 23rd of October 1940. Pele grew up in a very poor family in Tres Coracos, Brazil. Pele is just a nickname for Edson Arantes Do Nascimento which is why he was given this nickname since he has such a long name. Growing up his parents and friends called him ‘Dico’. He first learned the game football from his dad ‘Dondinho’ who was a centre forward until his career came to an end with a fractured leg. Pele began playing when he was a young boy for a local minor team, when he wasn’t playing he was shining shoes for pennies. He was first discovered at age 11 by one of the countries premier players, Waldemar de Brito. Waldemar took Pele to Sao Paulo and said, ‘This boy will be the greatest player in the world’. He was right! Pele had an immediate impact, in his first game he scored a goal right away at age 16! Pele went on to four world cups with his national team Brazil. Pele was an average sized man but blessed with speed, balance, excellent vision, being able to control a ball superbly, being able to shoot powerfully and accurately with either foot and head. Some wealthy European clubs offered large amounts of money to sign the young Brazilian but the government of Brazil declared him an official national treasure to prevent him being transferred out of the country. Pele said ‘My father was a footballer who once scored 5 goals in a single game all with his head, a record I was never able to beat’. Pele’s statistics are astounding scoring 1,280 goals in 1,360 games second to Arthur Friedenreich who scored 1,329 goals. Pele holds the record for hat tricks scoring 92 in his career. His statistics are even more mind blowing compared to today’s players who struggle to score 30 goals in a season. Pele played for Santos for most of his career retired and then came out of retirement to play for the New york cosmos. Pele in many ways was a complete athlete, with superb skill and agility he could dribble around defenders with ease. Many people regard pele as the best ever player to live. When pele came out of retirement to play for the New york cosmos he became the highest ever paid player but he said he did not do it for the money but to make football truly popular in the United states. Pele, whose nickname does not mean anything, became a Brazilian national hero and was also known as Perola Negra (Black Pearl). His best season was 1958, when he scored 139 times. When pele was young he played with a sock stuffed with newspaper or a coconut as a ball. It took him twelve years to save up enough money to by a real ball. When Pele was at school he was expelled in grade 4 for skipping school to play football in a nearby park. Since he was so poor the only other type of entertainment was to play street football in his neighbour hood with a coconut and bare feet. FINISHED FOR NOW having some trouble adding some more information to this as it only goes for 2:10 min but i need it to be around 3 min im 13 years old so yes i know it aint top quality stuff but what do you expect? any help and corrections i can add plus 50 seconds more.

Homework Help - 3 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : "Pele is just a nickname for Edson Arantes Do Nascimento which is why he was given this nickname since he has such a long name. Growing up his parents and friends called him ‘Dico’." This football star's given name is Edson Arantes Do Nascimento. Having such a long name provided him many nicknames, including Dico and Pele "Pele began playing when he was a young boy for a local minor team, when he wasn’t playing he was shining shoes for pennies" As a young boy, he was employed as a shoe-shine boy, earning only pennies for his services. In his spare time, he would play football, and he was discovered . . . . "He was right!" This would soon prove to be true (new paragraph) "Pele had an immediate impact, in his first game he scored a goal right away at age 16! " During his very first professional game at the age of sixteen, Pele scored a goal right away. "Some wealthy European clubs offered large amounts of money to sign the young Brazilian but the government of Brazil declared him an official national treasure to prevent him being transferred out of the country." Brazil declared Pele to be a national treasure, preventing his transfer to wealthy european football clubs. "Pele’s statistics are astounding scoring 1,280 goals in 1,360 games second to Arthur Friedenreich who scored 1,329 goals." Pele's statistics are astounding; second only to the great Arthur Friedenreich, with a final tally of 1280 goals in 1360 games; even more so when compared to the football players of today who struggle to earn 30 goals in a season. you need to work on the organization of your essay. it is very erratic and difficult to edit. -shane garst of america 2 : It seems almost finish. You could organize it just a little more. You can organize it chronologically. Anything to do when he was young should be in the beginning not in the beginning and then again in the end. Then just stop redoing it and just practice your presentation. Maybe have a nice picture of Pele to show and a picture of him in game action. If you can wear the type of uniform they wear in the game and carry the ball with you, that would really be creative! Good Luck! 3 : I assume you are going to read all this out so I wont correct your grammar becasue you'll do that yourself tommorrow. The only crticisim I would make is the order in which you provide certain types of information. That is; - put the bit about Pele meaning nothing up the top where you are discussing his nicknames. - put the bit about how he practised as a kid somewhere up near the top so that as you read the story unfolds rather then doubles back for information about the early years. - be a bit careful about using words that are lifted about of books. There is nothing wrong with saying his stats were "astounding" if that is your real words but they sound like you took them out of a book. Also the phrase "Pele in many ways". Just rephrase in your own words if you nicked the idea. Good Luck! |

Why are Americans so boring?
Its like say if Greece or Brazil or Italia were to win the World Cup, the whole country will shutdown for a week and celebrate with friends family nite life popping til sunrise whether Monday or Saturday...With American sports they "state" wins and they considered "world" champs the clap with a lil fireworks and go home and the next day its business as usual stuck in traffic...ZzZzZz...I find American life to be more about money making rather than passion and pride and nationalism! ...Also same thing goes with their weddings. They do not know how to feast drink and party til sunrise. Wedding ends like at 10pm...What a surprise coming here...see ya!

why are you so fascinated if americans are boring. you sure know an awful lot about american life. youre really an american yourself aren't you lol. oh and weddings at 10 because for the bride and groom thats when the real party begins
3 :
Because Americans are not that interested in Soccer. If our team wins the Super Bowl, or NBA finals though, it's another story. It's not "nationalism" like in other countries because we compete against ourselves, we have more state and city pride.

LOL Very very true. I know why because I am a middle eastern living in America and I can see what the differences are in terms of culture. First of all, America has WAY too many laws. EVERY fcuking thing is illegal in this country. You can get arrested for singing outside if people don't want you to do it (don't believe me? I have links, just ask). Everything is illegal here. There is no way people could party in the streets or shout all loud or do anything FUN because everything is illegal. Bars close early, you can't smoke anywhere, you can't be loud outside, you can't gather more than 20 people outside without the police coming. Second of all, Americans can often have a lazy mentality where they just live vicariously through their TVs. Rather than actually participating in something, most Americans just watch it on TV. Third of all, Americans want instant gratification. If something exciting happens, they want to miss the event and then watch only the HIGHLIGHTS of the event on TV or somewhere like that. They are only interested in HIGHLIGHTS of things and not the actual event. Fourth of all, Americans tend to have smaller families than we do overseas. American families are small and conservative and their weddings aren't such a big deal like they are overseas. Smaller families = smaller weddings. Americans are different. But it is their culture. Everyone's culture is different!

can you proof read my essay and tell me what you think and if theres any punctuation i need to correct?
| can you proof read my essay and tell me what you think and if theres any punctuation i need to correct? The Effects of a Mindfulness Manipulation on Adolescent Smoking Isn’t smoking great? It’s not like cigarettes kill so many people a year and it’s not like “second hand smoke†even harms non-smokers. Right, Wrong Smoking can cause trouble, Tobacco smoke is a human killer, and even if you don’t smoke you can be in harm. Evidence suggests that smoking cigarettes increases the likelihood of suffering from heart disease, emphysema, lung cancer, high blood pressure, and premature aging. The smoker is also at risk of many short-term health consequences such as chronic cough, yellow teeth, and unpleasant breath. The American Cancer Society estimates that cigarettes are responsible for about 431,000 deaths in the United States each year. Lung cancer accounts for about 30 percent of all cancer deaths in the United States, and smoking accounts for nearly 90 percent of lung cancer deaths. The smoking habit and addiction to nicotine usually begin at an early age. In the United States, more than 70 percent of adults who smoke began smoking before the age of 18. This fact has led to particular concern over smoking in teenagers and young adults. Tobacco industries direct 90% of recommendation their cigarette advertisements toward today's youth, hoping to hook another young adolescent into their money making scheme. Onset of smoking in children occurs at an early age due to a number of factors that include pro-social smoking advertisements, peer and even parents in certain circumstances. Primary prevention techniques that attempt to stop the behavior before it starts are effective because children are still young enough to be molded and influenced accordingly by the proper role-models. Preventative measures, such as informational campaigns are ineffective because they are unrealistic and fail to emphasize on the here and now. These measures focus on the future health risks that may occur 20 or 30 years down the line, which is much to long for a twelve-year-old to concern himself about. Adolescents also believe that they are invincible and therefore not subject to the health risks of all other smokers. For a young adolescent, life is still novel and carefree. The health risks of smoking are not part of a twelve-year-olds mindset-at least not until he or she is grandpa's age. A common habit difficult to resist when tempted. Fear manipulations lack preventative power because many of the health risks of smoking are long term, for a young teenager-what out of sight is out of mind. Fear manipulations are unrealistic simply because of the waiting period before the onset of disease. Early teens spend most of their time with peers, rather than parents. Mom and Dad play more of a secondary role during the teen years. It makes sense that young teens are easily persuaded by their peer group simply because the greater part of the day is spent interacting with them. Parents do not become the active roll model until dinner time for a few hours until lights out. If a youngster believes that smoking is common and normal, he or she may say if everyone else does it, so will I. Approximately 7 million tons of commercial tobaccos are grown each year, with a value of $39 billion. Leading tobacco-growing countries are China, the United States, India, Brazil, Turkey, and Zimbabwe. Tobacco is an economically important crop for many nations—about 2 million tons of unmanufactured tobacco leaves, at a value of about $6,500 per ton, are exported each year worldwide. Brazil leads in exports, with about 15 percent of the total, followed closely by the United States, with about 11 percent of the total. The United States exports the most cigarettes and other manufactured tobacco products. Of the approximately 635 billion cigarettes made in the United States in 1999, about one-fourth were exported. Despite all this there may still be faith for some who want to quit. Studies of ex-smokers show that their risk of dying from smoking-related disease decreases with each year of abstinence. Smokers who quit before the age of 50 reduce their risk of life-threatening disease by half compared with those who continue smoking. Since the surgeon general’s report in 1964, the proportion of males who smoke has decreased from more than 50 percent to about 28 percent while the percentage of women who smoke has fallen from about 34 percent to 23 percent. Today, about 44 million Americans have quit smoking cigarettes. The question to be addressed is what can be done to motivate healthy behavior. Hypocrisy manipulations have been used in the past to decrease the frequency of unwanted behaviors. Hypocrisy manipulations promote behavior change because they motivate a person to think about their inconsistencies. In light of the disease risks associated with tobacco products and their associated high health-care costs, many individuals and health organizations have lobbied for public policy changes that would change the way tobacco products are regulated, manufactured, marketed, and sold in the United States. In November 1998 the tobacco industry and the attorneys general of 46 states, along with representatives of the public health field and lawyers representing smokers, announced an agreement that bans outdoor cigarette advertising and the use of cartoon characters in advertising, a practice that may attract young people to smoking. The agreement also requires tobacco companies to pay $206 billion during the next 25 years to fund antismoking public education programs, smoking cessation programs, tobacco-related medical research, and reimbursement to states for some of the health-care costs associated with treating smokers. Last but not least finally, in late 1999 Philip Morris, the nation’s largest cigarette maker, publicly acknowledged that smoking is addictive and causes serious health problems. Homework Help - 3 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : There are tons of mistakes in this essay. Unfortunately, it is way to long for me to retype it and correct it. I wish you luck. 2 : ''Tobacco industries direct 90% of recommendation their cigarette advertisements toward today's youth,'' This doesn't really make alot of sense, and ''Last but not least finally,'' should say ''Last but not least, finally''. (I moved the comma) Other than that this essay is really good!!! 3 : Hey, its a good attempt at an article but really, I have to say that there's quite a lot of flaws in it. Don't be disheartened though. Excellence comes with practice. Punctuation aside (I'm sure you're quite alright with puncation), there's some ideas you need to cut and then polish up on what's left. Basically your ideas are there but scattered about the place. I get the impression that you seemed to know where to pluck the answer from sources but not how to place them into your own words. What you need to do is to select some ideas that you have a stronger opinion about from your article and then build on them. A framework that you can follow is idea statement+ elaboration(1)+ maybe elaboration (2)+example+example elaboration(1)+summary statement. It's a not an idiot-proof method but it helps. And its just a guideline, so you shouldn't stick to it too religiously. Your article has too many paragraphs/long. I'm not sure how long your article has to be, if its around 1200 words, I'm thinking 5(min) to 8(max) paragraphs would do. 1 intro, 3 points and 1 conclusion. 1st paragraph: Words like "Isn’t" and "It's" are supposed to be separated into their own individual words like "is not" and "it is" when in return form. Joint words are only used when in speech bubbles or spoken english, not in reporting or proper word documents. Besides that, your first paragraph is too casual. Words like "right", minuses off the credibility of your argument or report due to the lack of professionalism and fomality. "It’s not like cigarettes kill so many people a year and it’s not like “second hand smoke†even harms non-smokers." You ought to change your phrasing. Phrases like "it's not..." makes it sound a teenager trying to reason his way around something. Your 2nd paragraph has a too many ideas. It's better to separate them out and focus on one idea so that it gives some depth to your essay. That goes for the rest of the paragraphs too. Anyway, did you copy and paste those statistics and sentences off the internet? The sentences doesn't flow well. It's not a crime to use those statistics but you need to have a better linkage between them. Demostrate some mental analysis that you have done yourself in between them. And probably some cause and effect kinda relationship. Usually statistics are used to prove your point, give it support, not to be the points themselves. Usually 5 statistics is more than enough for an essay. You oughta give some overview, such as "young adolescents are attractive targets for tobacca industries....", before you bring in the statistics. And the thing is, you should acknowledge where the statistics are from. E.g"According to the US Federal 2007 income survey...". One, it demostrates some level of academic intergrity, giving gd impression points, and therefore credibility. Two, if the source is a credible one, it helps to add credibility to your article. I think you should concentrate on answering the question too. You digress too much into the peripherals such as "Approximately 7 million tons of commercial tobaccos are grown each year, with a value of $39 billion". You need state directly, outright what is the effect and then be more focused on answering the question.Don't pluck the sentences straight out of the internet. I can't be sure whether you did that, but it sounds like you did. It doesn't matter if you didn't, because you won't get a chance to explain it to your teacher when she/he marks it. If you can't add in depth, it's best that at least you show breadth. Categorize your ideas such as "economy effects", "physical health effects", "environmental effects", etc. Your ideas are roughly there but you need to polish them. Don't end of the article with an effect. You need a conclusion that summaries all your points concisely. E.g "Not only has the attempt on mindful manipulation of adolescent smokeing resulted in social problems, it has also....Much as it is undesired, the situation will not be alleviated until the government decides to act on the problems." |
