What should I be when I grow up?

What should I be when I grow up?
I used to always have a plan about what I was going to do when I got out of the house but as of right now I am COMPLETELY clueless about what I want to be when I get out of high school and it's bugging the crap out of me! :/ Okay so some of the things that I've thought about being were: Plastic Surgeon Neurologist Child Psychiatrist Marine Biologist Writer Film Director Screenwriter CIA Agent && the list just goes on.... I used to think all I wanted was to make lots of money, but who doesn't? Now, I know that I just want to be happy. We've all heard that saying: "Love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life." Well I kind of want to live by that but at the same time I want to make enough money to support a family. A lot of people have told me I could be a model but that industry is way tough and I'm only 5'4. I'm a pretty introverted person, I guess you can say. I am a BIG dreamer. I can't get through the day without doing it, but all of that wishful thinking has REALLY left me down :/ I love reading and I have tried writing but I just seem to kind of push it off and forget about it. I also love learning about new countrys and cultures. I want to be able to speak a couple of different languages when I get older and I have about a million different countrys I've said that I was going to live in. I love watching Dr. 90210 and i love learning about how the body works, especially the brain/nervous system. That's why I've considered being a Plastic Surgeon or a Neurologist; and I just love, love, love the Classics <33 I'm a strong believer in the saying: "Nothing beats the Classics." I'm in love with old gray/white films, the Victorian Age, Classic Disney movies that came out before I was born, Ballet performances, ballroom dancing and Classical music. Oh, and I LOVE lingerie, too! Lol; but one of the things that really gets me is helping the less fortunate. It warms my heart to help others, especially young children. I want to do some volunteer work with the orphan children in Brazil when I get out of high school. Well I hope you can help me with this. I hate not having a plan. Thank You :)) Oh yeah, I would like to be a Plastic Surgeon, Pshychiatrist, of Neurologist but I dont think I'm up for all of that dang school!

You kind of eliminated most of those jobs because you don't want to go to school. You'll need a degree for every one of those! A CIA agent sounds awesome, and a marine biologist is probably the best job on the list. You have plenty of time to decide, because you can go to school at any age, so I'd try starting with what you like best, interning or similar, then making a decision from there.

Okay, wow, you sound a lot like me. I want to do so many things, but just don't know exactly what I want to do with my life. I love learning about different cultures too and I really want to travel to a third world country and help set up an orphanage or health clinic. haha Anyway, back to your plan.. As for being a plastic surgeon, Neurologist, Psychiatrist, and all those ones where you need to get into medical school after you get your bachelor's degree, you have to know if you'll be able to go through so that much school because after medical school, you'd have to go through a more years of internship and residency. Yep, so if you don't want to go through all that, I suggest you cross those off your list. You could be a pediatrician; I think the process is a LITTLE shorter. Or you could be a registered nurse if you like learning how the body works. (its a really good, stable job and you're basically guaranteed work). I would probably do that, but I like working outdoors. As for film writer, screenwriter, its hard to make a lot of money because that industry is just too.. unstable. but you could always write for fun and maybe get lucky.

What are some good fundraising ideas?

What are some good fundraising ideas?
I'm going to go abroad with AFS to Brazil for a year in about a year. What would be some super great ideas to make some money? I think I'll need about $10,500 for tuition. and then like $1,000-$3,000 for my spending money for the year. Then I will need domestic airfare from Alaska - Miami which changes a lot. AND I will need to pay visa fees...$161...I'll have uniforms and books I'll need to buy (IDK how much yet) I'll need money for clothes...then i have some immunizations I need. I am 16 if that helps. Whoever lists the most ideas will get best answer..thanks! ...

During Christmas time, sell Mistletoes. That's our solid fundraiser, racking in about 5 grand every year. Apart from that, I would utilize the weather..get other people involved with you and set up a lemonade station or something of that sort in prime locations (not 25 cents obviously, but if done correctly, it is very effective). Check out gigs on CL..some of them offer quite a hefty reward if you have the talent to perform the task. Go door-to-door selling goods (can pick them up at your local Costco)
2 :
Try a bake sale, cookie walk, raffle tickets (have baskets with goodies to raffle off).

Should Universal Health care be passed?

Should Universal Health care be passed?
Now I know I am going to get the better of both sides on this issue, but before you answer think of this. Universal health care of "Free" as it is put actually cost us more in taxes. That means more out of your paychecks to fuel this. Now if doctors have to decide whether to work for the government making little money with lots of patients or opening private practice to make more money with less patients which will they choose? Grant it there will be those that will try and stick it out for as long as they can until they burn out. Then comes shortage of doctors for the public sector. Now Obama says that private practice will still be around , but for how long when doctors get fed up with the system? Will private practice be illegal too like in Canada? Now I understand everyone's argument that a lot of people don't have health care now , but isn't that their own fault since we have Medicare and Medicaid to help them which is free now? I actually had a few people that didn't know this. Also they say Medicaid is running out of money since the government didn't think people would live so long as they expected for people to die off much sooner. Do we really want government to watch over our health then? Not only do they have Universal health care in Canada and France but also in countries like Brazil which Brazilians will tell you that they prefer to pay for it since they will get the care that much sooner. Now who does Universal health care hurt the most in the end? The poor and average , funny how its the same people we are trying to help. Long waiting lines and private practice supply and demand go up since people need to get seen they go there instead and prices for private practice go up so only the rich get seen. Lastly tax more for the rich that make more then $250,000? For what? More Unemployment? It is the rich that have the jobs for us down here right? More cuts? More bailouts? So now that you read what do you think.. Let me know. Thanks in advance.

In the US? Absolutely. After all, we are the only "advanced" nation left on this rock who does not provide it... ...maybe it's finally time we actually got a clue. Btw, please keep your economic conjecture to yourself until you know the reality of what will/would happen, please.

Why not, bring on hyperinflation. I got my gold and i am ready to buy up my neighborhood. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

You wrote too much to respond to it all. But universal health care costs less money in the long run. My tax increase would be much less than what I currently pay in premiums and deductible. Doctors are fed up with insurance companies dictating how they practice, and we already are in a doctor shortage. Many have left the field. Currently the US Gov pays over 50% of all medical costs, period. And Medicare and Medicaid are not free to anyone. You have to either make less than 11,000 a year to qualify for Medicaid (which is way under poverty wages) or be 62 years or old to get Medicare. Most of the uninsured are the working poor, that barely make enough to pay rent and eat, with nothing left over for medical bills. Example: Walmart workers, they make enough to survive but not pay for health insurance. They either qualify for Medicaid or just don't pay their health care costs. Either way the US taxpayer picks up the bill. To Trinity: wait times are actually longer in the US than in Canada: http://www.ryananddebi.com/2008/12/19/healthcare-wait-times-us-vs-canada/ If you click the links attached, very well researched studies are available.

Don't forget that if said bill is passed then that means longer waits. Besides the government can't even run something as simple as the DMV and we all know this regardless of your party... so with that being said what makes everyone think the government can run health care? Also to even if private practive will be allowed it will eventually go away because with this "cheaper" government health care the rest of the doctors will lose too much money. And besides my taxes are high enough already without taking on all of America's health bills on top of that... Obama can kiss my @ss if he thinks that I will stand for it. Yea I said it, and if you have a problem with it well you can kiss my @ss too.

I think so.

Didn't Obama say he wanted to get America off foreign oil?

Didn't Obama say he wanted to get America off foreign oil?
Then why did he just give Brazil $2 Billion to start drilling there? Why not use that money to drill off of our own shores and create more jobs in America, all the while making us less dependent on foreign oil altogether?

When he said he is going to create jobs, he never said where. Independent A:~)
2 :
What we've come to discover about 0bama is what he says and what he does are two entirely different things. I thought we gave our oil companies incentives to drill for oil, so why he is giving more government money to drill is beyond me.
3 :
We supposedly have more oil in Alaska than all of the middle east. Why not break those chains that bind us and drill? I'm sorry, but I just don't get how we can be giving another country 2 billion that we don't have (we're in debt, remember?) to drill off their shores when we won't drill off our own shores. How many US jobs could we create and how cheap would our oil be in comparison. I think we need to strive for all forms of energy in this country and work together for energy independence. Until we find a better way, we need oil and why not our own.

Yeah, but that was just a lie he told. Just like everything else that comes out of his mouth.
