10 MIL to drill in BRAZIL ??

10 MIL to drill in BRAZIL ??
I posted this Q the other day It got reported ..so I must be doing something right. Aug 20 Obama to give Petrobas money to Drill offshore in Brazil Filed Under (Barack Obama, Brazil, Leftists, Liberal Fascism, Progressives) by Rodan August 20, 2009 at 5:00 pm Brazilian State run company Petrobas has be given a preliminary commitment letter from The Transnationalist Totalitarian Progressive regime of Barack Hussein Obama, for a $2 Billion loan. They are being giving this to drill offshore Brazil, not here in America. What makes it worse is that Petrobas is owned by the Brazilian Government. The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil’s Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil’s planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan. The U.S. Export-Import Bank tells us it has issued a “preliminary commitment” letter to Petrobras in the amount of $2 billion and has discussed with Brazil the possibility of increasing that amount. Ex-Im Bank says it has not decided whether the money will come in the form of a direct loan or loan guarantees. Either way, this corporate foreign aid may strike some readers as odd, given that the U.S. Treasury seems desperate for cash and Petrobras is one of the largest corporations in the Americas. But look on the bright side. If President Obama has embraced offshore drilling in Brazil, why not in the old U.S.A.? The land of the sorta free and the home of the heavily indebted has enormous offshore oil deposits, and last year ahead of the November elections, with gasoline at $4 a gallon, Congress let a ban on offshore drilling expire. Read the rest. Oops thank you for the correction .....good eye

Add in Beverly from ROLB, and take out Flex from DOL and replace him with London, and I think that cast would be awesome!

I like your list. Just take out Weasel and replace it with either Kelsey from Rock of Love Bus or Fox from Daisy of Love. Weasel is so gross. Besides he'd probably be too drunk to be able to do any of the challenges.

Has anyone attended a Cross-Cultural Solution trip, and have any advice?
I'm looking into particiapating next summer after I graduate high school. I'd like some advice or opinions or anything that might help me decide if it would really be worth the money and all. I've been leaning towards going to Brazil for two weeks and helping in a hospital possible; I'm a teen volunteer (candystriper) here in the United States. This is a hard decision for me to make, so any advice is greatly appreciated. I've always wanted to try something like what this program has to offer.

Travelling internationally is AWESOME. However, be very clear about the organization you want to go with. Investigate that they will give you what you are paying for. Not all of them are as legitimate as they say. If they are really about the learning, they will encourage you to talk to former participants, although ultimately the experience will be what you make it. There are a number of organizations that will support you in learning and travelling overseas. Have you looked into church opportunities? Check out the websites to start your search and verify the organization: www.freethechildren.com www.idealist.org www.charityvillage.com Start learning the language of the culture and the issues of the country (i.e. gender inequality, HIV/AIDS) and clarify (specify) your passion so that you can tailor your learning to impact your continued post secondary studies. Good Luck, you are on the right track.

Average salary in Brazil and cost of living?

Average salary in Brazil and cost of living?
Dear friends, I have the chance to do my Internship in Brazil between february 2009 and july 2009. The thing is that the Agency I have contacted with told me that the payment is going to be between 300 and 600 Brazilian Reals and that should be around 130 USD. I know that the internship is always low paid, and that's the way it should be. But I am worried cause they told me that 130 dollars will be enough for me to cover my rent and food. Is it true? Can I make it with that amount of money? Thank you for you answers and time. Z they didn't specify wether is for a week or a month. But if they say average salary in Brazil si between 300 and 600 reals, I am worried they mean a month. Anyway did you mean that 130 USD is ok if it is per week?

130 USD every how often?

I am afraid this is the reality of internship, just between 300 and 600 reais/month. Mostly, who gets this salary, is still at parents home so, they do not have big expenses. And when it is a actual salary, people has other part-time jobs. So, I don't mean to be negative, but if this is all they can offer to you, and based on the life level you already have and on your future plans, I would say get a real and strong pros and cons, before coming. As my personal opinion, if I was in your shoes, probably won't take it.

Its almost impossible to say how much money people make working in Brazil, it depends in what you do. If you work as receptionist, or a bartender the medium salary is R$800,00, then depends on where you are working. I live in Florianopolis, and I think that there is less crimes because it is a very new city and it also is much less populated than Rio and São Paulo. Florianopolis is a very good city, you must visit if you come to Brazil.

$5 to $6 dollar a gallon gas possible in 18 months, what are you going to do about it?

$5 to $6 dollar a gallon gas possible in 18 months, what are you going to do about it?
Brazil has had ethanol, and acholol at every gas station pump in the last 30 years. The politicans knew that, but didn't allow it to happen here, if you are thinking why not, just think of how many people working in Government make money in the oil business. If that makes you as mad as it does me, answer the question and really mean it. I have a few suggestions, write letters to the Editor of your local newspaper, don't buy as much gas, or just don't fill your gas tank. Car pool to work, use your bike when you can, walk if you don't or when you can. We need to send the politicans a message, and it isn't go ahead and allow big business oil men to keep raising the price....this is a war on the middle class, and if you are one of those you should be mad as hell and thinking like me. Believe me it's all up to us, they can't make any money if we don't buy it. Let me read your best answer, and what you are planing to do about it. Some of your comments are saying that it won't go above $3.50 a gallon. I know some people from Norway, and they pay $6.00 a gallon right now. So don't think it can't happen here, because if they are paying $6.00 in Norway, and $4.50 to $5.00 in other countries, what makes you think it won't, or can't happen here? I think it can, and if we (American People) let it, continue to drive without thinking first, it will, because greed doesn't have any limits.

well....not much we can do about it. it's either pay or don't go to work for me. eventually we'll just get to the point where we'll taking out a second mortgage just so we have enough money to pay for gas

I drive 32 miles to work/school, so it hits me pretty hard. Lately I've been getting by on fumes and worrying if I'm going to make it at all.. Plus I've had to get a second job. It's already killing me. Possibly with all this extra money I'm thinking about getting a more fuel-efficient car. BP has been talking about putting ethanol into their gasoline so hopefully that will come into effect before long. Otherwise I guess we're all screwed unless people begin standing up for themselves like they're supposed to. I personally avoid buying gasoline as much as possible. When I move closer to work/school I'll probably do a lot more walking as well and maybe write a few angst-filled but justified letters to my local congressman. If everyone wrote a letter once a week to their congressman, it would probably drive them to do SOMETHING. I don't understand why people blindly follow authority. People don't seem to realize that there are more of US than there are THEM. We can take 'em. We have guns too, you know.
18 :
Sorry man my best guess is if gas really goes that high and I don't get a pay raise then I will have to start selling my body or organs. Something that drastic because the prices right now are keeping me home a lot more and really hurting my bank account. I'm not trying to sound like a freak but my life would get so bad that I would have to give up my car and most likely my job because I have no car and if the government is going to let things stay so bad then I'll join in on the other pilferers and go on welfare.
19 :
I know that this answer isn't completely possible for everyone because I live in a small town, but people in cities could carpool more often and so on. Mainly this is for small town folk I guess. If gas reaches 5 to 6 dollars a gallon I am going to walk everywhere because I am not going to let anybody tell me or regulate how I spend my money. I already put less gas in my tank than I would like to already (20 dollars a week to be exact). Although I would prefer to fill my tank 3 dollars 15 cents I believe is what it is here. That is far too much, I really think that if we could get a very high majority of people of the lower and middle class to have one or two days that they don't go to work or at least don't drive their vehicles maybe just maybe we could send a message in one way or another to these Oil Companies, that we aren't going to put up with it anymore. Now by lower and middle class I pretty much mean that we are the ones that are really hurting from this. I really don't believe that writing our congressman/woman is going to work because they aren't feeling the pinch quite as bad as us common folk if you will are, Oil companies have thousands upon thousands of lobbyists that are specifically paid to get our elected officials in there pockets so to speak, but I believe that I could be veering in a different direction so that is all.
20 :
I am going to drive less and at least avoid Citco.
21 :
Take it from me my fellow Americans. Gas prices will never go beyond $3.50 on the average...at least for a long time. The giant oil companies and Bush's administration already settled on that. They figured that this price is set for good to make lots of profits for the oil companies to invest their money (at our expenses of course) to explore and dig out more oil from Iraq and Libya and some parts of Saudi Arabia. Did you know that our American and other British oil companies are now in Libya after new contracts had been struck with the so-called Qaddafi - the terrorist. Qaddafi of Libya is off the terrorist List now since he allowed Bush to explore his oil....nobody talks about that anymore....of course. Keep in mind also that Saudi Arabia and other Arabic oil producing countries are making lots of profits to pay their debt to the USA and reconstructing the New Iraq......all of that at the expenses of all the poor working people on this earth, especially the middle class of America. It is all a political game....wake up America please for your kids sake. By the way, I never said that the Iraqi war was about the oil (partially Yes!). However, it was a golden opportunity for Bush and the oil companies to benefit from that.

I want out of this 10 year marriage, Help!?

I want out of this 10 year marriage, Help!?
I hate my husband and I want out. I married my husband in 2000 because we loved each other at the time and we both wanted to live in each others countries without having to leave. It was the night of our marriage and we got in some fight, over nothing, and he told me he wanted a divorce. Total shock. That was just the start. Since then there have been bouts of physical and mental abuse for 10 years. He has not had a stable income or job since I met him. I started an exportation business from his country 2 years after we married to help with money and not depend on him to take care of me. Needless to say it took years for this company to make good money. In the meantime I got an inheritance of $200,000 and bought a land in his country and put the rest in savings. We traveled back and forth from each other countries but nothing ever worked out for us, especially after the baby was born. He was satisfied to work pizza and live below the poverty level and live off my inheritance in Hawaii, all while abusing me mentally and physically when he felt the need. Finally, I realized I needed a place and a plan of my own, as later we were living in a house owned by his parents (in Brazil to save money). I took my inheritance and built two homes in his country, Brazil, one to live and one to rent. Although the money was not enough to finish the two homes, my business which I have been taking care of finally started to make money, $40,000 in the last 10 months. So, I used that to finish. He finally got some money from his parents, and invested 15% into the total I invested. Well, I want out of this marriage desperately, and he now wants half of my earnings (which he wont get anymore) and half of my homes. He just wants me to hand over a R$ 350,000 home I built for my daughter and me, that he invested only 75,000, minus the fact I have been supporting the family for the last 5 years minimum, because of my inheritance. He only works with my business because I work, if I stopped working tomorrow he would not have his entire 5 hour work week anymore. I told him, not only do I quit, but he's fired. I told him I'm not giving him my home but he can have the money from the rental second home for 2 years, (so he can organize his life) and I will not charge him child alimony if he releases his rights to both homes. I'm just looking out for my daughter and sick of supporting an ungrateful abusive husband. I want out!

If you are in an abusive marriage. just leave him. what is holding you back?
2 :
GET OUT NOW. this is not a healthy relationship.
3 :
sounds like you got "played" and you need a good lawyer....
4 :
You will be bound by the laws of the place where you got married. In the United States if the tables were turned and it was the woman seeking half of the man's fortune she'd probably get it even if she did nothing to earn it. It's the "what's mine is yours" conception of marriage. You should make your decision about divorce irrespective of the money and fight for your rights in the court. That's pretty much all you can do about that aspect, unless you can work out an amenable distribution of assets with your husband before you make it to court. In that later scenario you will probably have to be more generous with him than you would like to forego the courts that will likely take more of it than that. Get a lawyer though. S/he will guide you better than the yahoos who post here, that's for sure.
5 :
I don't know the laws in Brazil, so it's hard to say about a lot of the property issues and so forth. It does sound to me like you are the main bread winner, so I believe you would be paying him alimony if anyone was to pay. And since you are the one with the most interest in all of this, you can support yourself, so I say get out. But before you do, get a good lawyer.
6 :
first i apologize for what you encountered those years in your marriage . you have a very strategic plan very detailed . because judges don't say u take e this and he take that , they back up the argument from the most truthful story . and since you have been through so much you won't have a problem what i will suggest is that you get a damn good lawyer and be ready for anything that hits you because it will be a nasty divorce good luck . God bless
7 :
well I hope things go your way, what an idiot he is,
8 :
How about letting a lawyer handle your case and just get divorced from the guy? You have way too much money and investments to risk losing. I agree that you need to get out, and a lawyer can help you do just that. Your husband sounds like a leech.
9 :
You are going to need a lawyer to figure this out. Probably more than one. In the US a guy with an inheritance spent like that and earnings like that would have to give a lot fo his wife. In Brazil I don't know.

Is it illegal to chop down trees for firewood use in your nearby woods?
i live in a town house and its a pretty small neighborhood and theres a few tree huggin residents. WE live in a pretty country side area and once u cross this road its big city. So there is a lot of wood. so cant i just go into the woods and just chop down trees? im 17 and today i was makin the fireplace and my mom always bought wood from some guy that drives to our house every winter. I mean i like this old way of getting heat. im 17 and was raised in this kinda tech era, but i hate touch screens. i despise touch screens, and im alreayd behind with all this crap. so i was wondering if maybe i can just go chopping some trees with a big axe-no chain saw. just axe. And split it up and make a lot of firewood and make a crude post and start stacking firewood and make a roof for it so it can dry for next years winter. and i live in Virginia...and Virginia...has so many stupid laws...so idk man..maybe choppin down some trees is illegal now idk. im not some white dude in a suit trynna make some money in brazil and chop down a rain forest. thanks if its legal, ill figure out which trees are the best for firewood and ill only cut down the almost dead ones.

if the woods belong to you --go for it! If not keep you s....n' hand off
2 :
as someone said,, if it is your wood,,,, cut all you want,,,if it is someone elses property,, keep off,,,,,, I think you would be ok if you took deadwood or broken branches
3 :
cutting wood on someone else's property is stealing and tresspassing. How would you like someone breaking into your room and stealing your stuff. If it belongs to the city, they have someone who decides what to do with the wood and trees. Usually it is an arborist. The trees belong to everyone and he is hired to manage them for the good of everyone. Sometimes you can get permission to cut wood on public property. Here in Oregon, the forest service sells permits to cut wood in designated areas.
4 :
You wanna get shot for tresspassing? How about going to jail? It is owned by someone. You need to get permission from the land owner, be it private or government. People pay taxes on that property. Why do you feel its ok to steal? Get permission there first, and you and the blue ox can chop without doing it in the dark!
5 :
Cutting trees that might not belong to you is a pretty risky business. It is one of the cases where the owner can put the value on the property. That tree could end up costing you a lot of money.
6 :
First find out who owns the trees and go ask him if it's all right to cut some down, otherwise you are a big time trespasser.
7 :
Every one else pretty much covered the legalities, but if all your using is an ax don't worry. You will run out of enthusiasm before you can do much damage. Chopping and splitting even one medium size tree with unpowered hand tools is more work than I have seen any teenager do in years.
8 :
I think everyone got the message across. If it isn't on your property it's not yours for the taking. The reason it's better to buy the wood from the guy that does the chopping is that wood probably been dried for some time before he sells it. There is a big difference in a fire built with wet wood and one with dry wood. If you have a legal area to chop you should know what you should and shouldn't chop. Why not talk to the 'GUY' that brings you wood every year? It's probably his livelihood so he knows the correct way and you just might learn a thing or two.
9 :
You go into forests and find fallen dead trees and dead branches. bring those home and if they are not dry enough, store them in a large trash can with the lid on until they are dry enough to use in a fire place or stove. There are sometimes alot of dead fallen trees and broken branches laying on the forest ground which would be better to use rather than killing a
nd chopping down a tree that is still alive. Trees take a "long" time to get to the size they are at, chopping down alot of living trees all of the time would make the forest an empty/ugly disaster.
10 :
It really depends if the land is actually your property or not. If the land is owned by you, then feel free to chop down firewood! You may also need a rack to hold it.

Will someone PLEASE explain to me why the U.S. is paying Brazil for offshore drilling?
We are using taxpayer money to pay the government of Brazil who already has contracted with China for billions of barrels of oil. Now we are sending our much needed jobs to employ Brazilians, paying them multiple billions so they can then turn around and sell that oil back to us. Again, Obama is encouraging the world to hold us hostage. Does he think he can enrich every other country by totally ignoring the Country, U.S., and it's citizens. All Obama and the liberals seem intent on establishing a one world government while making a third world country of the U.S.

I don't know and it really makes me furious. Especially right now with our economy the way it is. It is very hypocritical as well. If Obama supports drilling, then we should be doing it here in the USA.
3 :
Why don't you cite a source to back up your assertion. I know the major oil companies are paying for Brazilian offshore leases, but heard NOTHING about the US govt. paying.
4 :
Sure; Soros is going to make millions from the deal. Ah, friendship is a wonderful thing...
5 :
Because dems want to save the environment remember? That is why they support off-shore drilling in other countries.
6 :
Even if we did start more of our own offshore drilling, it wouldn't help gas prices.
7 :
Last time I checked, Brazil and the US share the same planet, so if this is really about the environment, wouldn't drilling ANYWHERE affect us eventually? If oil is a necessary evil, why the hell are we so consumed with drilling everywhere BUT the US and building up every other nation but our own? Anyone with a shred of common sense knows this is about making money and building wealth for the government in order to expand it.
8 :
Petrobras, which will do the exploration and presumably get the bulk of the money is one of the primary holdings of George Soros. All clear now?
9 :
Very simple. Political pay back. Nothing more, nothing less. George Soros is the one who benefits the most.
10 :
Because George Soros, who was instrumental in helping Comrade 0bama's ascension to power, has very large investments in the Brazilian Oil Company and will make Billions more off of this deal. In short, more payoffs to Political Allies, just like the Tax Payer funded rescue of the failed, bankrupt company known as GM was a payoff to the Unions for their help.Corruption at its finest!! RWE
11 :
the world used to fear us, now they laugh at us!
12 :
George Soros, who has backed Obama in a big way, has a vested interest in the oil company in Brazil. I believe the news said he is THE biggest investor, anyway, he stands to put billions in his pocket from the profits of that company.------aren't he and Obama great Americans?????? Sure they are------------(sarcastic)
13 :
to all the kool aid drinking and blindly following whatever obama says without ever questioning him read the actual news and it aint just fox news! He has agreed to loan brazil 2 billion dollars for off shore drilling and yet he wants it illegal in America?
14 :
It's not taxpayer money. It's not going to Brazilian workers. The US Import Export Bank is self-funded and profitable. The Bank lends money to foreign companies to buy US goods and services ONLY. The money doesn't actually go directly to the foreign company, it goes to the US companies in the form of loan guarantees so the US companies can compete for contracts. The bank's board of directors (3 Republicans and 2 Democrats) were all appointed by Bush. http://www.exim.gov/brazil/pressrelease_082009.cfm http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/20/loan-brazilian-oil-company-riles-conservatives-favor-offshore-drilling/

Great question I'm at a loss for an answer, because the SF Bay area is sitting on 1Billion barrels & have known about it for almost 50 yrs.His actions are Treasonous

What I'm thinking right now is "WTF?!" Okay, now on a logical basis... most girls that want a boob job are either insecure about their breast size or they want to be a stripper. I think maybe you could be a little young... if you make $50 dollars a week. Remember not to get a boob job too young, or maybe you haven't even grown to full sizes yet. Also, some surgeons don't know how to conduct proper surgery and your breasts could explode on the airplane back because of the air pressure. Don't get a boob job. B.

It's almost summer car wash season, you could do a bikini car wash and have a great big sign that says "I'm raising money for a boob job, please help with a donation!" I'm sure some creepy old men would donate. Or go to www.myfreeimplants.com and sign up.

UFC in Brazil ?

UFC in Brazil ?
With the UFC going to different locations for their PPV when do you think they will go to Brazil? It just seems like with all of the Brazilian fighters in the UFC, selling out a large venue would be easy and the UFC would make a lot of money.

yeah..Brazil is shady. They had a UFC event there a little over 9 years ago. If you watch the video close you can see people smoking pot in the arena.
2 :
From an economic standpoint.....there's no money to be made down there. We owe the people of Brazil a great show for all of the technique and fighters they have produced over the years. But it is dirt poor.....their exchange rate for American dollars down there is off the charts. Dana would have to fund the event out of pocket and build a massive card to attract record PPV buyers to break even.

Anyone else smell a DNC rat here?
Two GOP lawmakers seemed to echo talking points from Fox News host Glenn Beck about a deal made by investor George Soros..Reps. Dan Burton (R-Ind) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) questioned whether Soros, who backs a number of liberal causes and Democratic candidates for office, had invested in a Brazilian oil company, Petrobras, with the knowledge that President Barack Obama might temporarily ban deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. "We don’t need to be spending Mr. Soros's money in Brazil, so he can make more money by doing offshore drilling with our taxpayer’s money," Burton said. We need to start investigating all this stuff.

99.9% of universities in both the United States and Canada will accept internationals students for admission. You just simply have to choose the university you want to attend and look at their website for information on how to apply as an international student. In regards to work, in the United States you are legally allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per and this employment must be on-campus. In Canada you can work both on-campus and off-campus but if you choose you work off-campus you need to apply for and receive a work permit before you start employment and you are also limited to working a maximum of 20 hours a week. As for 'cheap' - there is no such word in an international student's dictionary. If you want some websites with a list of universities try the following: http://www.princetonreview.com/home.asp http://dir.yahoo.com/Education/Higher_Ed… If you're looking for cheap colleges in USA, then you'll probably have to apply to community college in USA. Community colleges are generally have far cheaper tuition fee than that of Universities. But still if you want to go to university, then here I've mentioned some universities with cheapest tuition fees. University of Florida University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Florida State University San Diego State University College of William and Mary University of Nevada University of Washington California State University-Long Beach University of Virginia Appalachian State University If you want to know about community colleges too, I've found this page for you: http://www.utexas.edu/world/comcol/state

what qualifications does one need to teach english as a second language?

what qualifications does one need to teach english as a second language?
I'm talking about teaching english abroad like in Brazil, Japan, or Vietnam? And what kind of money do they make?
Teaching - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
you have to speak english.
2 :
MA or/ Phd in English ( Major ).from Stanford University. Japan pays the highest salary.
3 :
The interest and the initiative. If you feel you can apply yourself even when discouraged, or impatient. I believe that all you really need is the desire to do it correctly. Thus brushing up on basic language skills, should give you all that is needed.
4 :
I taught English in Japan years ago. Although I did not have a degree in English, I had a college degree and teaching experience so it was not hard finding a job. These days I believe you need to get certified at an ESL training program. I am including a link of a company which specializes in such training programs. Also, if you go to my list of questions, I asked a similar question about teaching English in Japan. The answers may help you. Cheers!
5 :
It depends on the country, and on how much you want to make. The more qualifications you have, the more countries you can work in and the higher your pay will be. There are programs in some countries that will take any native English speakers. Japan is not one of them, you have to have a bachelor's degree to be allowed a work visa in Japan. If your only qualification is speaking English, you'll probably just make a living wage for the country you're in. Not saying there aren't exceptions or ways to work your way up the pay scale... but an entry level spot might not pay much. Moonlighting or illegally running an English school out of your apartment will make you large amounts, but depending on the country, it can also ensure your deportation. A bachelor in any program from an English speaking University will open up just about every country to you. With a bachelor, you can earn around 40~50K in Japan, other countries may pay less. Many countries will pay you an extravagant local wage, but it might not translate to high numbers in your own currency. Again, you can moonlight or work from home to bump this rate up, but depending on the area, again this might violate your visa. TESL or TESOL (teaching english as a second *or other* language) certification is generally a year long program at a college, though there are one weekend 'seminars' you could go to instead, but they're as reputable as any other two day program. A TESL certifcate can be as good as a bachelors in some countries, but in others, it's only good to bump your pay up after your B.A. Most countries don't require you to have a teaching degree, but like the TESL, it'll bump your pay up. Same goes for a Masters.
6 :
It depends on the institution--many schools provide housing plus a salary [usually in the local currency plus a dollar salary if you are lucky :) Typically, ESL teachers must have a minimum of a master's degree [not necessarily in English] as well as teaching experience although this is again dependent on the institution [university level, high school, or elementary). Teaching environments vary widely; be sure to investigate thoroughly and ask for contact names of current teaching faculty who are by the far the best barometers of the teaching situation.

How to become a guardian?

How to become a guardian?
Ok so my sister a no good mother, she has a 5 years old a 3 years old and a 2 month old baby girl, they all live with me and my husband for the passed 1 year and half. I can not take her anymore she does not care about the kids or anything so we are sending her back to Brazil. Now we own a house we make good money pay all our taxes, but we're here illegally can we still become their guardian. If yes what do they want to know about us (both of us have a clean record) what will they ask.
Law & Ethics - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If you are in this country illegally, I don't believe that you can apply for guardianship in the US. You might want to check on guardianship in your own country first, then apply for citizenship here. Once you are a citizen of the US, it is a lengthy, pain-in-the-butt process to get guardianship. You will need a notarized statement from your sister, get the state involved that you are living in, they will assess you for appropriate guardianship, etc.
2 :
In most cases, unless there is opposition or state law requires an investigation into the family to serve as guardian, no one will ask about your citizenship. If your sister agrees to the guardianship, even less likely. However, you run the risk that your sister can threaten you with revealing your illegal status, and extort money or other things from you in return for her silence. You should consult a local lawyer familiar with guardianship and with immigration law (not a common combination, but in your state it might be). You will have to file a petition or complaint for guardianship in the appropriate court (probate or family law court, usually, but it depends on your state's laws and rules).
3 :
Hey, What country are you living in? I think in any country you need to be a citizen but that may vary depending on the country you live in.If you or your husband has no criminal record there should be no problem, you will have to contact the social welfare office near your location and explain your situation to them. I am saying this on my own experiences. Thanks

A friend and I are planning to move to Brazil. Any info will help such as: What to expect,Jobs, and Money.?
Here is the Situation. Were both 25, white, and from Kentucky. We have no family there or connections. We want to live around or close to the beach if possible. I have no idea which city yet, Im sure that doesn't help. Were just trying to get some info and facts on the place as a country before we make any move. I know I should contact the US Embassy for info but figured I would try this out. How difficult is it to obtain a Visa to live there? As for work, Ive worked in Sales, Hotels, and Restaurants. Im sure jobs are hard to come by but isn't every place like that now? What are the people like? I hear a lot of bad things but there are some bad people in America as well. Any Info will help and thanks for your time to help me out.

You will not be able to live there, or even obtain a visa for work unless you are sponsored by someone, or have some significant cash. As for jobs, good luck. The local people have a hard enough time finding work, and you will be a foreigner who is unable to leagally work in their country. Also, language will be an issue unless you speak Portuguese. It is not like Mexico; you will not find a lot of english speakers, especially outside of the larger cities. You need to do some serious homework before you do this. Your best bet is to get a tourist visa first and visit.

Have been considering moving to Brazil, but worried about crime, please advise?

Have been considering moving to Brazil, but worried about crime, please advise?
I have been thinking about a couple of things. One is just buying up property (beachfront land) in Brazil (Natal area) and the other is maybe moving to Brazil. If I moved to Brazil I would have to live in either Rio or Sao Paolo as that is where the work is for me (most likely Rio). I currently live in China where violent crime is almost non-existent and I quite enjoy this. I do want to move though and Brazil is one of the few places that is up and coming and I can make good money and property prices are coming up etc. It's just the crime. Should I be so worried about it? What is your experience?

Singapore would be the safest.
2 :
You should take risk! Whole life is full of risks, you are not a coward and you shouldnt worry about that. There are millions of people out there, and most of the Brazilians quite nice people
3 :
Brazil is definitely an emerging country with a good economy. There is crime everywhere. You need to get a realtor to help you find a location that is safe. The poorer areas are less safe. Put yourself in a nice district and take care you don't get lost. I like China too. Very little crime. Jobs on cruise ships would be a good experience just to travel and see the world. I met someone on a cruise who was so excited because after six months he was cruising to Europe. The cruise companies give you time to explore and get to know many places.
4 :
Why Brazil? They certainly don't need nor want you over there? Why not to stay in your own country, that's the place where you should always be?
5 :
I've never been mugged, and i'm brazilian. I think it's a matter of luck, protection, location, fate lol idk .-.
6 :
I live in Brazil 17 years. but I live in central-western' Brazil. The city of Natal is very beautiful and has a lot of crime. The cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro is really very dangerous. Come to Brazil, but will live in medium-sized cities.
7 :
Why would you buy property in Natal & then move to Rio? Have you looked at a map of Brasil or are you day dreaming?

I saw on TV where Brazil uses only sugar cane for its fuel . . . .?

I saw on TV where Brazil uses only sugar cane for its fuel . . . .?
Why can't we pay a country (Say. .. Mexico for example) to grow and process sugarcane for us. Then we could give them their own way to make money and jobs and we coould lessen our dependance of foreign oil. ? On the program, they said that compared to Corn, it would be a cleaner burning fuel, cheaper to grow and process. . .. Any Thoughts?
Alternative Fuel Vehicles - 10 Answers

1 :
yap maybe they could used that as a substitute but MAYBE its not ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY.....it might cause global warming...
2 :
I know!!! What's up with that?!?!?!
3 :
It all has to do with government backing to oil companies. You hear politicians talking about doing something to reduce our need for oil but at the same time the oil companies are giving them donations. It's a two sided coin.We know we should do something and our leaders talk about change but behind closed doors the government and big oil companies have other ideas. Now look at the auto industry they are big buddies with the oil companies. It's almost a no win situation.
4 :
Go figure why all this corn got planted huh. Even still I don't know if you could realistically supply this country with ethanol(from cane) to replace fossil. Alot of people walk in Brazil for transport, Cane is grown in LA.
5 :
It comes with a high price tag
6 :
Biofuels "made in Brazil" are a MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR TO RAINFOREST DEFORESTATION !!! As your source of fuel is not produced in a sustainable way, it has negative consequences and doesn´t secure the future. AND WHY OH WHY ALWAYS THIS SOVIETIC PRODUCTIVIST VIEW ??? Cutting fuel consumption by 1/3 is just as good (even better) than producing 1/3 of green fuel (I am an Energy Engineer). Sweden produces around 4X the US GDP/unit of fossil fuel.
7 :
Good suggestion, but I think that the whole idea behind winning ourselves of oil is to also win ourselves of of foreign dependence for energy.
8 :
I think Japan will lead the way to alternative fuel vehicles . because unlike some car makers they are not in the pockets of the oil companies. Japan does not have any oil reserves in the country. So given 10 years or so other car firms are going to find themselves so technologically challenged in this market that they will have to fold and lock the gates for the last time. Then they can join the oil companies in the bankruptcy courts Ahhhhh..... What a shame. (NOT)
9 :
Brazil uses both gasoline and ethanol as vehicle fuel, but actually less than 50% of their fuel consumption is ethanol. Ethanol makes economic sense in Brazil, because Brazil enjoys the unique combination of conditions -- tropical weather, lots of water, and lots of available land -- needed to make it work. Few other countries meet these criteria. Mexico is too dry. Most wet tropical places, like India or Southeast Asia, are too crowded to be able to devote sufficient land to ethanol production. Importing ethanol is unlikely to ever be a solution to the US energy problems. Producing ethanol domestically from corn is even less an answer, as corn based ethanol is far less economically viable than sugar derived ethanol. Even the Brazilians - who enjoy all the advantages - are not able to produce enough ethanol to supply even 50% of their fuel consumption - and that at a greater environmental cost than would ever be tolerated in the US. The present enthusiasm for ethanol in the US is due largely due to the 51 cents per gallon subsidy the government pays producers. Without the subsidies, corn based ethanol isn't economically viable. There is some encouraging research regarding ethanol produced from various grasses - fewer fertilizers and less water is required, and the net energy gain of the process is expected to be better than than of corn based ethanol (though still less favorable than sugar derived variety). Even so, technological hurdles remain, and there is not sufficient land available to produce enough ethanol to offset more than a modest fraction of our fuel consumption. As to alcohol being a cleaner fuel, this is only marginally true. Burning ethanol produces fewer unburned hydrocarbons and slightly less CO2 than burning gasoline, but more NOx - the precursor of smog. But if you factor in the environmental damage (water pollution, chemical fertilizers, etc) done by the production of ethanol, it isn't clear that burning ethanol is any more environmentally friendly than burning gasoline. Ethanol may ultimately become an important niche fuel in the US, but the economics just aren't there for it to satisfy a major portion of our energy needs, like in Brazil.
10 :
What Nickel Johann and Dave said. Ethanol is NOT the answer. In Brazil, there are WAY fewer cars than in the U.S., only about 1/2 are ethanol.

Safe way to mail from Brazil to USA?

Safe way to mail from Brazil to USA?
On my last visit to Brazil I purchased a very nice piece of jewelry ($2,500 USD) for my mom's 50th birthday. Unfortunately, I'm a dope and I left the bag it was in at one of my friend's relatives house. To make a long story short, I want to send my friend's family enough money (and instructions) to ship the bag to me so it will arrive safely and legally. I am willing to pay whatever I need to. Besides the jewlery, the bag also contains a Dell laptop I bought in the summer of 2006 and some clothes I bought. Does anyone know how I can ship my things to the US from Brazil. Its a small bag and weighs maybe 5 lbs? Again, I want it to arrive here safely. Thank you for your response in advance.

Use either , Fedex or DHL. or Why don't you try and get a cheap air ticket and just go down and collect it.
2 :
You can use any courier, even the Brazilian post office (it's just as safe as the USPS) as long as you're able to ensure your package for the full amount. You're shipping really expensive stuff...your main concern should not be so much the Brazilian post office or UPS or FEdex, but you have to find put with US Customs how much they're gonna charge for you to receive that stuff. Maybe there'll be no cost, but sometimes they make you pay taxes on things you get from abroad, and they wont give the item to you unless you pay.
3 :
I would try to find someone to take the stuff. For expensive stuff it´s really risky to send by mail. If you live in Brazil and can insure the package (because if you try to claim anything from overseas, forget it) then at least you would have some peace of mind.

How can I highlight my blogs on my resume?

How can I highlight my blogs on my resume?
I run two cultural blogs where I teach people about Brazil & Colombia as well as teach the Portuguese language. I have been doing this for 2 years, averaging 40 posts per month and will shortly reach 1,000 posts. I keep it as professional as possible and receive a good amount of traffic on a daily basis, therefore I would like to highlight it on my resume. The only thing is I make no money from this. Thanks

If the blogs have nothing to do with the jobs you are applying to, omit them. If they apply to what you are applying to, list them as a skill/interest with the address listed
2 :
The purpose of a resume is to get an interview. So if your blogs will make the prospective employer jump to interview you then perfect. If not, then leave them off.

Well in my opinion, it's really cool having coins/money from other countries. If you really don't care for it, than yeah you can exchange it. You also can keep it to use maybe again.. Not sure.
3 :
Well, if you trade them, the cost of the exchange would end up cutting the value. You do have to pay a fee to exchange currency. I don't know what your intent was, but you won't break even and certainly not a profit.

Do you believe the Netherlands manipulated some of their games to get money from the dealer?

Do you believe the Netherlands manipulated some of their games to get money from the dealer?
The stopped scoring after 3 yesterday and then allowed a goal at the end to make a one goal differential. They allowed an unnecessary goal at the end to slovakia to make a one goal differential Also against Brazil they stopped after the 2nd goal

What a stupid question! I'm sorry but you clearly have no knowledge of football. In both games they thought they had already won, so they lost a bit of concentration.

How well could I live in brazil with 100K?

How well could I live in brazil with 100K?
assuming I bought a small piece of land and was able to make an income off of that land, how far would that amount of money get me, or would it get me anywhere.

Your not saying how much income is being produce on that land. The average household wage is roughly 6000 u.s.d. per year. Many of these folks are living in poverty. You could live o.k. in the campo (country) but even a simple flat in Sao Paolo or Rio would wipe out 30-40 percent of your 100000. If you have other funds, the amount listed would be sufficient to get you started, but it would not be an easy road.

Why are semitic race the best when it comes to money?

Why are semitic race the best when it comes to money?
I mean all semites, not only jews, my father immigrated to Brazil from Lebanon when he was a year old only,he study medicine and become a millionaire by investing in real state, how come many semites make money like water just by working and using their brains? not only semites got money but it seems that most people that are born poor and become successful are semites. Beautiful Sunset: I'm not talking specifically about a country, I'm talking about people that immigrates to another country and are successful, Norway is not one of the 3 richest countries,Norway is the 25 on the GDP list. the 3 richest countries are U.S, China and Japan. NOW if you're talking about HDI then maybe Norway is on the top, but remember HDI doesn't mean money or wealth, it means life quality, how many people in Norway got 10 million dollars in cash? or maybe even a million dollar?

That statement is an untrue stereotype
2 :
You say all Semites but for most people, when they think Semite, they think Jew. For centuries, Jewish communities were not allowed by anti-Semitic laws to work in many industries or were simply excluded/discouraged from attempting to do so in others. One of the few business' they could go into was the business of money. This gave the non-Jewish communities the lop sided and dangerous view that the Jews controlled the wealth, which Governments would then exploit to their own ends. It would be akin to saying that all Muslims are terrorists...stupid, dangerous and plain ignorant.
3 :
Look at Ducati Ferrari Gucci Fiat Aprilia Alfa Campari Martini Lancia Maserati Lamborghini Abarth Benelli Moto Guzzi Morini etc etc just naming a few rich owners from one tiny area of Italy half the size of california and no semites on sight.
4 :
That's 100% wrong! Look at Israel. It's in a war against little Palestinian children. Now look at Norway. We are among the top 3 richest countries on the planet. First in democracy too! That's a real success. bye bye
5 :
History, as usual, is the answer. For an approx. 1000 years the jews in Europe were not allowed any other profession. Especially not "healthy" professions such as working the land or be a soldier. They basically had no other option than to direct themselves to money matters, becoming the first "banks"... as this was usually seen as a dirty profession. Obviously, if you have to do that for generations on end, you cannot help becoming good at it, handing it over from generation to generation. (And, obviously, also THAT then becomes a reason for jealousy or prejudice). I always find it so devestatingly unjust to blame a people for something - since they were MADE so by the own forefathers of those who throw the insult.

How to help my 5 years daughter to have a good education, without money?

How to help my 5 years daughter to have a good education, without money?
I live in Brazil and the education is very weak, poor. I need to find sites on the internet to help me with her education! Also we live in the country, in a farm, so the schools around here make me "sad". I'm really unhappy! Please help me!

If you just do an internet search you will find all sorts of sites with different lessons that are age appropriate. Good luck. You sound like a mother who really wants the best for her child.
2 :
read to her and have her read to you. go to the PBS.org site. they have lots of good things to do for children. if you can't get books, find other websites for children. reading is the best thing she can do. on all subjects.
3 :
Jumpstart educational software. Buy it on ebay.com
4 :
teach her with everything you know in spare time, and if she cant be taught while you can teach her, teach her to read, anyway, and write books she can learn from while you have your time.
5 :
www.noggin.com has a lot of fun and interactive educational stuff for children your daughter's age.
6 :
Internet can be a big help, you can always find educational sites with games and all sort of things to teach her new things. Also, make sure to impulse her interest for reading, that way she can get new lessons on her own with different books all the time and lets face it, reading has never hurted anyone...5 or 100 years old ^__^

Are you a citizen of another country living in Brazil? If so, you can probably see the curriculum of that country online. Otherwise, go online and look at the curriculum of the UK or the US or whatever. See if you can follow it on your own. Aside from that, the best way I think to educate a child is to have lots of conversation with them. Many kids lack attention span and verbal skills because they never talk to adults- they're always around other kids or in front of the TV/computer. Second, you need to make sure your daughter reads a lot, and consider it a part of school. Make sure she reads fiction and non-fiction, and get the topics to follow the curriculum topics of the UK or US or any place you consider as having a good education. Just go to the library a lot and they will help you. Third, follow her math progress and supplement it with problems online to see how she is doing. Finally, make sure she writes a lot, and work with her to revise and edit her writing. One word of warning, though. If you are going to undertake something like this, keep in mind how stressful it would be for a kid to go to school all day then come home and be expected to do more and harder work. Maybe you should look into homeschooling if you are educated enough yourself. I think you will have to spend some money though. Probably you'll have to spend on some books and frequent trips to a city with a good library. Nothing is free.

Start with some basics, like how a child's developmental sphere is intact...here's an example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_childhood_education Here's a site that will give you items to print out and some guidance for lesson plans: http://www.tea.state.tx.us/curriculum/elar/index.html I wish you the best of luck! Just reading to your child can give them a definite advantage! If all parents were just as interested and wanting to get involved as you are...kudos to you!!

My child was diagnosed to have never caught up with his peer group. Now my child is 2 grades ahead of the other students his age. This is what I did. I bought him only learning video's and cd's or tapes the first 5 years of his life. These are things I bought on clearance. Buy foam alphabet letters and several cheap packs of them becuase they can use these to spell words while taking a bath. A cheap way to teach her math is to have her use your money to buy your groceries or goods while shopping. If you need a pound of cheese and meat let her make out the list and give her the money. My child wanted pudding everytime we went to the store so I did not give him enough for the most expensive brand but only enough for mid-brand and he would always by the cheapest and use the rest for candy or save it for another visit. We lived in another country so he used Euro and now has to learn how to use American Money. Read to your girl everyday. Get into character and act out each part. Teach her how to cook cold foods since she is so young. Weigh your sandwiches if you have a food scale. Measure them with a ruler. She will learn a lot about weight of a sandwich, how long the meat and bread will last or how many sandwichs can be made out of a bag of rolls or bread slices. Use everything in your house that you can to teach math or reading. Like directions on a recipe. Give her a little apron so she can be proud of her work and her relationship to her wonderful Mommy who wants her to learn. Let her bandage a cut for you so she learns how to take care of the hurting. Then make sure there are no bandages to be found later and ask her what she could use to stop the blood or cover the wound. This allows a child a chance to think on an adult level and you will be amazed at what she will use.

Are you wanting to teach her in English or in Portuguese? (Or do you speak another language?) Since school is not compulsory there until age 7, just spend the next couple of years focusing on teaching her the alphabet, the sounds of the alphabet, how to read and write, basic math... You don't really need to use anything specific. Just start showing her how to right the letters of the alphabet and what the sounds are, then simple words and the like. Now, homeschooling past age 7 is currently banned in Brazil. If you think you might want to teach her long-term, now would be the time to start getting involved and try to have those laws changed.

Well, if you're really serious about this, the US has a foreign exchange program that would help trumendously. I don't think they'd let her do the program at such a young age but when she's a bit older, it'd be a great thing to do. I'd get more information about it :) Also, the US offeres scholar ships and grants and such to people in situations like yours. Again, get more information. Good Luck!
