do I have to pay to make a flight reservation?

do I have to pay to make a flight reservation?
I want to book my flights to go to Brazil now but I will be leaving only in January. Do I have to pay for it in advance? Can I make a reservation now and pay in cash later? I don't have a credit card, but I know I will have all the money I need in January.

If you deal through a travel agent, you can make the reservation but not pay until later. Explain your situation to them, they will work with you. AND, they will try to get you the best fare. Happens all the time.
2 :
if your booking online, you have to pay in advace. if your booking through a travel agent then you can pay later
3 :
Some airlines do have an option to pay later. I know US Airways has a "bill me later" service they advertise every time you book a ticket online. However, I'm fairly certain it's really just a convenience service through a financial institution. I'm sure there are some hefty financing charges too. You can always try taking a small loan out from your bank.

Is there anyone from Brazil or Rio that can tell me about life down there?

Is there anyone from Brazil or Rio that can tell me about life down there?
I am considering moving to Rio de Janeiro. Can anyone tell me what the job market is like? I have experience as a dance instructor and Waitress. What type of money can you make in the tourist district? How much does housing cost? Is it dangerous for a white girl of 26 to live there? Are there any ballet or other dance schools in the city? What is public transportation like?

Well I'm from Brazil, most do not die in Rio de Janeiro then not know the answer is little question! More than is good to live in Brazil is.

Hi! Jane. You don't said us what is your country but, I think may be USA. Sorry, but, only US/UK citizens has too much lack of information about Brazil because the power of your media who insist to classify Brazil among the poor and losers of the World. Poor ignorant journalists... Well, let me answer each question about Rio: (1) JOB MARKET Job market is VERY COMPETITIVE. People must to study at college, get a MBA and have job experience for good vacancies. In your area (dance) you need a previous - comproved - experience. For waitress: many restaurants offer jobs to people with no experience, but is not easy to find one; Universities in Brazil (people studing for a best carrer): www.youtube.com/watch?v=uymIvdBLJZE www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Iov6K9Q8xU (2) MONEY WITH TOURISM You need be an official tourist guide to work in Tourism . Work in a hotel is another good option, but, you need to speak portuguese, Clary, of course. You may be an indirect employee in tourism workin in a cafe/bar, night club, restaurant or another place near tourist attractions; (3) HOUSING Housing is not cheap in Rio, because this is (1) a cith with high HDI level, (2) capitol of the richest state of Brazil and (3) a important tourist place. You need to expend some from $ 500.00 (a single vacancy in a family house) to $ 1.200 Brazilian Real in an apartment. Cheap Housing (vacancy in a family house): //images02.olx.com.br/ui/3/48/88/44564088_4.jpg Apartment for middle class (600 - 1,200 Real montly): http://images.google.com/images?hl=pt-BR&rlz=1I7ADBS_pt-BR&um=1&q=apartamento&sa=N&start=36&ndsp=18 Apartment for high middle class (1,200 to 5,000/month): www.youtube.com/watch?v=evm4Ef9wVPc www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh7vzdXdGmg (4) DANGER X WHITE PERSONS Sorry but this question is not clear for us, Brazilians. In our culture danger has nothing to do with races, but, place. By the way: Rio is a city with some 6 million of inhabitants. 50% are whites. We receive, also, thousand of white tourists every month, so...why Rio could be a dangerous place for whites??? People having fun in Rio: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZbhEufVRfw (Skating) www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv__LcgbHW4 (Bowling) www.youtube.com/watch?v=AX5yytDCPe8 (just walking)www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1g4wVdoIeM Brazilian youth (Girls like you): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9LIK60F0R0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNDYly13WSo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk7o3K_1mt0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qjk7siEoT0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMHxfbQjAQ4 www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RzxFEmRObA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JXsNBqc-jQ www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib3KPjcjEnQ www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNr5v2cJTnY (5) SCHOOL DANCE Are you asking if exist any ballet or school dance in Rio? Serious? OMG. Exist hundred, like in any western rich city. (6) PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION Depends on where you live. Exist four ways to move into the city using public transportation: (1) Taxi, you can find a lot of these, but it is a little it more expensive; (2) Bus. Cheap but not so good and less comfortableYou find a lot, also. (3) Train. Cheapest but not good; and (4) Metro/subway. The best option. A ticket cost 2.8 Brazilian Real but trains has conditioned air and are fast and safe. job market, theres already ten people trying to get the same job that will most likely work for less than you. dance instructor and waitress are in demand but like i said get in line. your not gana make more than anyone else unless you think of something they haven't thought of yet. all big cities here suck because you got a gang of people in a small area with nothing to do, all rio has is the beach, theres no disneyland or Miniature golf. you want to make money try the small cities next to the big cities. there really no such thing as a white person here, yeah theres a few people with blue eyes but its brazil, you wana see a "white" person go to europe. poeple here like light skinned girls because they somehow see it as a ticket to wealth haha, 99% of people with blonde hair dye it that way. its safe for you as long as you live here like you would in any big city. would you walk in a bad neighborhood at midnight in the states? tell you the truth you could do that in sao paulo, ive done it a thousand times, strolled around the ares that everybodys scared of. i wear nice clothes and take care of myself, if it was dangerous they would have at least tried by now. public transportation is exactly the same as the states.everything here is almost exactly the same as the states but with a touch of catholic =) if you lived here youd laugh at my joke

In Brazil, making R$600 on paycheck, is that considered good? Sufficient to live?

In Brazil, making R$600 on paycheck, is that considered good? Sufficient to live?
If someone in Brazil makes ~ R$600 on a paycheck, is that considered sufficient money? Can one provide a home for him/herself & food and necessities with that? The person is living alone. Southern Brazil. Sao Paulo area. R$1,200 every month, or R$600 2x every month. I'm Canadian, and here we are paid 2x a month. Not sure if in Brazil it is paid monthly or 2x a month.

The payment in Brazil can be made weekly (usually for workers in factory) or monthly for jobs in offices. wage of R$ 1.200,00 is a very low wage, A wage that is enough to pay rent, feeding, health insurance, clothes, condominium tax, electric power, Internet, gas. I esteem that it is of R$ 4.000,00.
2 :
In Brazil it's monthly. I don't think you can live by yourself with R$ 1.200,00 living alone. You would have to rent a room or rent a house with other people. The cost of living in Rio and São Paulo is high. Food is expensive here in Rio.

He hates the USA and white people he said the founding documents were failed he is a retard.
5 :
Pay off...short and simple..Soros helps fund the left wing agenda that obama is part of.
6 :
Because George Soros backs Obama and gave him lots of that foreign hidden money that he's been complaining about recently to get elected. Payback is a b*tch.
7 :
Soros may as well get some money back also...Obama paid the Union boys back with GM takeover, and Bankers with Tarp....and Fannie and Freddie still have their hands out...what do you expect from a corrupt communist...
8 :
He did it to annoy you.

10 :
if you can't find a job, then you don't have money to give to George Soros, or anybody so kind of a lame rant
11 :
Because George Soros is the puppet master and Obama is the puppet.
12 :
Payback. Soros didn't become one of the richest men in the world without payback.
13 :
I read that article and Obama also loaned the Mexican govt millions to drill in the gulf where our companies have been banned. Obama is a low down individual but so are all liberals .
14 :
Try again. This was a loan awarded by the Export Import Bank. The US is MAKING money off of the 2 Billion dollars. It was NOT "given." It was LEANT. And, through the lending, there is an interest rate and, a sizable profit to be made... for US, the American people. Further, this LOAN fosters the Brazilian Oil company to a state in which it will be further contracting labor and machinery from... AMERICAN COMPANIES. All in all, this is a good thing for America. In that this loan helps a competitor of the Koch brothers, the propaganda machine will tell you that it is every kind of evil under the sun.

That's what friends are for.

You again? You need to ask this every week and you insist? What the hell has George Soros to do with Brazil os PETROBRÁS? He is a MINOR INVESTOR who own less than 1% of Petrobrás stocks. Obama don't "gave" money to petrobrás. He is keeping a contract of some bank of USA. Your government signed a contract with Petrobrás to drill oil in deep water because you US companies has no technology to do it. I Invite all to know more about Brazil.
